We travel to Australia's capital city of Canberra this morning, checking out Parliament House, Lake Burley Griffin and stunning views from Mt Ainsley before continuing on to Jindabyne. The afternoon is spent at magnificent Lake Jindabyne and the surrounding area with an opportunity for canoeing, horse riding (a must, through this beautiful Snowy River country), water skiing (seasonal) or mountain bike riding (all at own expense) and a visit to the Jindabyne Cultural Centre. Dinner and overnight dorm accommodation is included at the Lake Jindabyne Hotel, where you'll get to enjoy the mountain life; perhaps a sauna, swim or drink at the bar while taking in the magnificent view of the lake. (D)

Day 2 - Jindabyne to Snowy River NP
This morning we travel to Charlotte Pass to view the peak of Mt Kosciuszko (the highest point in Australia) and also hike along an alpine track to the glacial 'Blue Lake'. During winter we will 'snow hike' or ski (at own expense - weather permitting). After lunch we cross the Victorian border and travel along a scenic mountain road, following the mighty Snowy River to 'Snowy River High Country' for our overnight stay. After dinner, search for 'Aussie' wildlife on a guided nocturnal walk. Overnight in Highland Country (B, D)

Day 3 - Snowy River Country to Wilsons Promontory NP
Enjoy a hearty breakfast and then explore this scenic area on a guided 2-3 hour interpretive walk. Time permitting; try your hand at a spot of fishing! We travel the short distance to Buchan, where huge limestone caves lie beneath the woodlands before heading to the coast and Ninety Mile Beach. We travel through the rural farming region of the East Gippsland to Foster, a small, but pretty town known for it's dairy farming and also the 'Gateway to Wilsons Promontory'. Overnight Foster (B,D)

Day 4 - Wilsons Promontory NP to Melbourne - Accommodation not included
Today is spent in the National Park exploring the spectacular granite rock formations, coastal flora, native wildlife (including emus and wombats), golden beaches and watching the ocean of Bass Strait pound on to the Australian mainland's most southerly point. We then travel on to Melbourne via the Dandenong Ranges and the pastoral landscape of Victoria. (B)

Day 5 - Melbourne via Great Ocean Rd to Port Campbell
We begin our journey travelling through Geelong before stopping at Torquay (home of Quicksilver and Rip Curl) where you can pick yourself up a bargain, before making our way to the world famous Bell's Beach. Here we commence our journey on the renowned Great Ocean Road, one of the most spectacular coastal roads in Australia, calling into the seaside towns of Lorne & Apollo Bay exploring pristine beaches, gorges and the magnificent cool temperate rainforest of the Otway NP.
